A9061 - Large Restored Victorian Mahogany Five Drawer Chest. Circa 1870. Completely restored from the ground up, including all new internal Mahogany drawer rails, drawer runners and drawer stops. This highly functional set of drawers from the 1800s features.
- Solid Mahogany construction.
- Traditional hand French polish, finished with beeswax.
- Five hand-dovetailed Mahogany drawers.
- Spotlessly clean internal drawer surfaces.
- Original wide profile turned Mahogany legs (new anti-scratch pads installed).
- Oversized brass keyholes/escutcheon.
- Original brass til locks (No key included).
- Nice and thick original Mahogany drawer bases (1cm approx).
- New solid Mahogany drawer runners to all drawers (Mahogany sourced from the same era).
- New Mahogany drawer rails (Mahogany sourced from the same era).
Another lovely set of drawers renewed and all set for the next 150+ years. The five solid Mahogany drawers have had the original bases removed and refitted, then re-nailed to close gaps resulting from shrinkage over the years. New solid Mahogany runners installed to all drawers. They are structurally flawless with no pre-existing repairs (The original dovetail joins are in perfect order - tight with no gaps or repairs), function like new and sit straight and flush. All new internal Mahogany drawer rails. The external Mahogany plank top and sides are in great shape with no cracks or significant imperfections. Some minor dents and distressed features consistent with age. The original Mahogany backboards are in good order also. Slightly bigger profile than usual with extra storage capacity.
This is quite a heavy set of drawers (even with the drawers removed) that will require two strong people to take it away.
Dimensions (mm) 1130H x 1090W x 537D.
