A9062 - Ornate Red Cedar Victorian Seven Drawer Chest. Circa 1880. Freshly restored, fitted with new hardwood drawer runners and hand French polished, this fine example from the late 1800s boasts.

A rare chest from the Victorian era, featuring dual handles to the small top drawers and a lockable central top hat drawer. The seven Cedar drawers have had the original drawer bases refitted and renailed to close any gaps resulting from shrinkage of the past 130+ years. New drawer base installed to the right side of the very bottom drawer (new timber crossmember to the underside to provide additional strength). All drawers are very solid, have been renailed and re-glued where required, sit straight and flush and function perfectly. New hardwood runners to all drawers, except the top left hat drawer (not required - original runners show no significant signs of wear) The original internal Cedar drawer rails and drawer guides are in excellent condition with minimal wear (High strength wood glue re-applied to the joins). The solid Cedar plank top, drawer fronts and sides are in a nice original condition, with no significant stains or dents. All original Cedar backboards are in good condition.
