Secret, frieze top drawer
Turned cotton reel column supports to either side.
Solid Australian Red Cedar and Pine construction.
 
Overhauled and rebuilt internally. The internal drawer rails have been re-glued, and reinforced Some have been replaced with new. Where required the original drawer guides have been removed, realigned, glued and re-nailed. All the drawers are structurally and cosmetically, as new and open and close flawlessly. New timber crossmembers installed to the underside to the lower long drawers and top frieze drawer (all the long/wide drawers) to provide additional load bearing strength to the original drawer bases (not considered by the original maker). Some additional Cedar and hardwood supports have also been installed to improve the structural integrity of the original frame. After addressing the internal drawer rails only two of the drawers were identified as requiring new runners to their underside (the far left top hat drawer and one of the small central drawers). The external Cedar plank top, sides and drawer fronts are in very nice condition with no cracks, stains or dents. The original tongue and groove back boards are in good order also.
