A9072 - Rare Restored Victorian Cedar Eight Drawer Dresser. Circa 1900. Complete with new hardwood drawer runners and a hand French polish, this finely crafted antique features.

Reeded Cedar side panels
An uncommon set, previously owned by local colonial artist, William Short, it features five top drawers (4 x small and 1 central tophat drawer) above three long drawers. The solid Cedar plank top, sides and drawer fronts are in very good original condition with lovely distressed features and natural patina. The original drawers have been rebuilt, re-glued and re-nailed where needed and fitted with new Mahogany and Oak runners (except three of the small top drawers - no significant wear). All eight function perfectly and sit straight and close flush. The original, internal Cedar framing and drawer rails have been built with more consideration than usual. The internal rails and back of the chest are interconnected via Cedar crossmembers (lateral and vertical) increasing the overall strength of the chest. The original Cedar drawer guides are substantially thicker/wider than standard and have been installed with countersunk screws instead of nails. This additional internal framing has allowed the drawer stops to be installed at the back instead of the front, meaning they are less likely to come loose or break off over time. Thick original Cedar backboards all in place.
